Melvin Whitlock The Sinner's Prayer As I look toward the full moon in the Sky I turn my thoughts to heaven and ask the Lord why What is the reason I was placed upon this Earth A voice softly speaks: “To use my land for all its worth” “Free to take a stand and live your life for Me” “Free to be My voice to let closed hearts be free” “Able to fight for true justice and expose the almighty truth” “Able to respect the elderly and able to mold the youth” But Father who will listen to a sinner no one knows “Be truly remorseful for your sins and the rest my child will show” “As for having followers those will come and go” “For I am the vine and you are the branch and from you others shall grow” Father can you guide me and please show me the way “I have been with you forever and forever I will stay” Father I have not been the best son for I have used Your name in vain I have said and done a lot of things that have caused my parents pain “Make no excuses for you have done what you have said” “Remorse and give your soul to Me and your spirit shall never be dead” Father I have known women before any vows exchanged I am a consistent liar and all my lies vary in range “No more women other than the lady you make your wife” “Asking Me sincerely for forgiveness is the first step to making a lie right” But I have kicked men when they were down and laughed consistently in their face Pushed them further into the ground and refused to hear their case “Your job is not to hear him plead his case but to simply direct him to Me” “Help him up when he is down so he can anchor his soul to Thee” So You accept me for my faults and love me even though I am not what You thought I should be “I love you because you are my son and despite all your faults you should know, that I made you in the image of Me” “So if you ever wonder why I love you and I chose to set your mind free” “Free to reach the stars, as long as, you do it to glorify Me” (c) Melvin Whitlock |
